THE MONTH IN A REVIEW: OCTOBER 2015

When I wrote this post last month, I knew I had set myself some goals for the month of October. Some I could get through but some I struggled with. So here is everything that happened in October:

1. I finally finished my 5th Semester at College and so now I have only one more semester to go until I graduate! I can't even express how happy I am right now.

2. Also, I finally bought myself a foundation. I only have used either BB Creams or Tinted Moisturizers till now and so buying a foundation makes me feel like a grown up. I was a bit skeptical about the shade as I ordered it online but I was so happy when it matched perfectly with my skin.

3. This is a very silly thing to be happy about but, I finally nailed the Nutella Hot Chocolate with Marshmallows recipe. It is definitely not the healthiest thing to have but hey it's so yummy!

4. I am a huge foodie, and so controlling my food habits is something that I have given up on. Saying that I have changed the quantity of food that I eat and I can already see a huge difference. I also have substituted a couple of items with healthier alternatives. I will do a post on this but only after I get myself completely into that routine.

5. While we are on the changing routines topic, I decided to take a major step of not using a conditioner anymore after I shampoo my hair. I felt like it weighed down my hair and made it limp. I made the change only about 15 days ago and so far I am happy with the way it's going.

I am hoping to get more into working out everyday from next month onwards. Let's see how well that goes.

PRODUCTS I HAVE USED UP #3

I have no clue whatsoever as to why I love reading about or watching videos that show used up products by different bloggers. I would like to think it's because 1. They have actually used those products 2. I feel like the review is much more genuine once the whole product has been used up. This is my only third post into the category as due to the writer's block I threw away all the empties that I had kept aside. But here I am again bringing you the products that I have used up in the last couple of months or so. I wouldn't go in for a whole review on each product because I don't want to make it a really long post. I would just mention the names and you can let me know in the comments below if you would like a review on a particular product.

1. Simple Skincare Toner (Travel Size) x2
2. Dove Dryness Care Shampoo
3. Dove Gentle Exfoliating Body Wash
4. Nivea Argan Nourish Body Lotion
5. Estee Lauder Idealist

Which is the most luxurious product you own? Would you buy it again?

SIMPLE SKINCARE TONER

Toners are something that I had really struggled with even before having an skincare routine. Because I have very sensitive skin all toners that I tried would just dry it and make it flaky. Then I found out that I was not using the toner which was meant for my sensitive skin. I seriously didn't know anything at all about skincare. After using a couple of them for sensitive skin I came across the brand SIMPLE and I decided to try out it's toner and there hasn't been anything that even come close to it. It's such a shame that I can't find it in INDIA for the original price and I have no clue about it being shipped internationally. What I love about this toner is that it works so well on my skin without giving me nightmares in the morning. Also, as it is alcohol, paraben and fragrance free it makes it the perfect kind for my skin type. Now I guess I'll have to order it in bulk amounts next time my dad goes to London. Sigh!

Which toner do you guys use?

A MINI HAUL

I am an absolute sucker for SALES. I would actually wait for months to buy an item in sales. I have this notion that if something has been on my wishlist and it's on the expensive side I would wait for the sales to arrive and then buy it, that way I save money and I think it's smart shopping. So when Nykaa.com announced it's Diwali Sale I knew I had to get my hands on stuff that had been on my list for way too long. Saying that, I only bought three things which were absolutely necessary. Also, I finally got a foundation! If you have been a reader of my blog since quite a while now, you would know that I have never bought a foundation before so I am really proud when the shade actually matched. More on that later next month. The next two things I bought are my holy grail products which I have probably used more times than I care to remember.

So what have you recently bought that you have never had?

NEW IN: NAIL POLISHES

It has been so long since I last posted a blog post. Well, in my defense I might have been busy or just enjoying the well deserved break! Who knows. Getting back into the post, I finally got my hands on my most looked for shades. One is the perfect minty green (Mint Julep from Lakme Gel Stylist) and the other one is the best white I have ever come across (No. 37 from ColorBar). Both shades have great consistencies and they stay on for a good 4-5 days without any signs of chipping. I have a feeling that these both might be a part of this month's favourites post.

Which nail colour have you been loving recently?

INFUSED WATER

One of my favorite weight loss topics to talk about is infused water! They are known to naturally boost metabolism while making the whole drinking 12 glasses of water a day process a bit more fun. They are not at all expensive and have almost 0 calories in them. That's just so great!
I first started making them back in April 2014 and it just instantly refreshed me. I tried probably the oldest mix: Lemon, Cucumber and Mint. Saying that then I moved on to strawberry and mint and then now I drink the one with Orange and Mint. I love mint because it gives me the necessary kick to start the day. You can make one by just cutting up the mix of your choice, mixing it in a whole bottle of water and then just refrigerate it overnight or however long it works for you. There are now different infusion pitchers available too but I just find them a tad bit on the pricey side.

Have you ever tried Infused Water?

CASUALLY CHIC

Casual fashion has always been an inspiration for us to style out day to day outfits. Let's face it, we're not going to wear an embellished dress to school on a Monday right? If I could I would go there in my joggers (which surprisingly is a trend now). So today I have some of my favourite casual outfits which I turn to for daily inspiration. There are endless ways to style basic pieces and therefore it's the best to invest in a good pair of demins or T-shirt.

I hope you find it as helful as I do.

THE OCTOBER MAKEUP

I have been having a bit of a switch up in the makeup department recently. I still haven't gotten myself into the whole foundation frenzy but I have changed up my base a bit. So for the base I have been using this VLCC Matte Look Sun Screen Lotion as it gives me a very dewy touch while mildly covering up the spots and then I follow it up with the L'oreal Mat Magique Powder. Next, for eyes I have been loving this Maybelline The Nudes Palette. For eyeliner and mascara I use my well trusted Maybelline Hyper Gloss eyeliner and this Model Co. mascara. I started doing my brows recently because I have been kind of obsessed with them. I use the Gimme Brow by Benefit. For lips I have been reaching for my most used one and that would be the Rimmel Kate Moss No. 19.

It still is simple but I have been trying out a whole lot of new products so expect to see a lot more reviews soon.

What has your most used lipstick been?

PINSPIRED: INSPIRATION BOARDS

I feel like we all are results of being constantly inspired by our surroundings. What we wear, how we look, what career we choose are all by being inspired whether it is from a friend or a celebrity. A constant source of inspiration is the best way to keep yourself motivated. Being a blogger there are way too many creative blocks we have to go through. And so I find mood boards the best way to stay inovated. You can create a virtual one on Pinterest or an actual one on your wall, or be it a scrapbook. Below are some of my favourite ones.

I hope they inspire you as much as they inspire me in my day to day life.

Share your Pinterest accounts with me in the comments below and I would love to follow you there.

HOME MADE GUACAMOLE

I am a self confessed lover of all things in the Mexican cuisine. I can eat Mexican all day everyday for the rest of my life. And one of my most favoured things from Mexican is the Guacamole. It is the best ever dip in the world and it's healthy too. So today I decided to share my personal recipe for Home Made Guacamole.

Ingredients:

1 large Tomato
3 Avocados
Juice of 1 large Lemon
Handful Coriander finely chopped
1 Chilli red or green, finely chopped

Method:

1. Use a large knife to pulverize the tomato to a pulp on a board, then tip into a bowl. Halve and stone the avocados (saving a stone) and use a spoon to scoop out the flesh into the bowl with the tomato.

2. Tip all the other ingredients into the bowl, then season with salt and pepper. Use a whisk to roughly mash everything together. If not serving straight away, sit a stone in the guacamole (this helps to stop it going brown), cover with cling film and chill until needed. Scatter with the coriander, if using, then serve with tortilla chips or spicy wedges and sour cream.

It's so easy to make. I would make it everyday if the avocados weren't as expensive. And to be honest it's so healthy as well.

Let me know your feedback if you decide to try out the recipe.
If you have an easier one feel free to share it with me in the comments down below.

GARNIER MICELLAR WATER

Micellar Waters have been quite a popular concept that had taken the beauty world by storm. Though I knew they existed, I was completely oblivious as to their use. I was happy with my CTM routine and didn't feel like I needed to add anything more. Saying that I wanted to try Bio Derma just to see what all the hype was all about but the price tag kept me thinking. Then I found out that Garnier did a pretty similar one and so I decided to get it when my Dad visited London a couple of months ago.

If you have read my September Favourites post then you would know how much I have fallen in love with this one. So how you basically use it is that your pour some on a cotton pad and wipe your face with it. It might take a couple of cotton pads to get rid of all the makeup at night but it gets the job done especially with the waterproof eye mascara. I generally use this at night and then follow up with toning and moisturizing. You don't need to rinse your face with water after using it. It is hypoallergenic so if you are generally prone to redness or itching, there are chances that you won't experience any of it with this. I have been using it since about a month now and it still looks like it has barely been used. It is not available in India (As far as I know), and so I just ordered another one from FeelUnique.com.

And because I ended up loving it so much, I think I am ready to add another step to my CTM routine.

Have you tried it or maybe you use a different one.

SEPTEMBER 2015 FAVOURITES

It feels like I haven't done a Favourites post since ages. But now that I am back, I am so excited to share with you all the things I have been loving this past month. I have got only a few things this time, but there hasn't been a day when I haven't used them since the time I got them.

1. Garnier Micellar Water: I was a bit dense about the concept of Micellar Water at first. They have been around for a well 5 years now but I never felt the excitement to try them ever. One of the reason might be that the only available option was Bio Derma and it just is way expensive for me. So when I knew Garnier had a pretty good one too and for an affordable price, I decided to get it when my Dad went to London a couple of months ago. There's a detailed review about it coming sometime next week, so for now all I can say is I really love it.

2. L'oreal Mat Magique: I am head over heels in love with this one! Can you blame me? It is just such a perfect little powder that sets everything so nicely. I might actually go and buy another one once I hit pan. Catch the full review about it here.

3. Revlon Parfumerie in Orange Blossom: Ah! How good does this one smell. I am in love with the formula, the shade and the whole range. I stays on for about a good 4-5 days before you notice any chipping and it makes your hand feel like a you're probably someone who is always around flowers. I also wrote a review on it last month, so you can read it here.

4. Vera Wang "Lovestruck" : This has been my go-to fragrance this month. I absolutely love it. Actually the only best way to describe it is that this is what autumn smells like. I am a sucker for packaging. But this one delivers with the quality as well as looks. It makes me happy.

5. Yoga: I was a Yoga lover a few years back but then suddenly for some reason I just stopped. But in August I was racing to get to my apartment with my brother. He obviously won but I just couldn't breathe after running up a couple of flight of stairs. That was when I decided I had to get back into shape anyhow. But I knew I wasn't a gym person and so I decided to take up Yoga again. I am so loving it. It makes me want to have each day more productive than yesterday.I am not even exaggerating, it is how I actually feel. Also, detailed post about my Yoga routine will be up later this month
